2023 marks a major milestone for us at Mode Choc. That's right, this year Mode Choc celebrates its 40th anniversary! 40 years of history, enjoyment, and growth, but above all, 40 years of offering you everything you need to furnish your family's home at affordable prices. We want to celebrate this fortieth year in style by spoiling you, our valued customers, who have been with us from the very beginning and without whom none of this would be possible.

A little history to begin with…

To mark this ^40th anniversary, what better way than to go back in time a little!
The year is 1983, and we are in Dolbeau, in the Lac-Saint-Jean region. A new chapter is about to begin: Mr. Raymond Roussy and Mrs. Marlène Hudon are opening their very first family fashion store, which they call "Aubaines Choc" (Shocking Bargains). The store's popularity is so great that, at the dawn of the 1990s, it allows them to open four new branches in Jonquière, La Baie, Chicoutimi, and Roberval.

The 2000s dawned, and the Aubaines Choc chain welcomed the new millennium under a new name: Mode Choc. It now offered an enhanced selection and added well-known brands to its stores, all with the aim of better meeting its customers' needs. A few years later, the founders' daughters became shareholders in the company, ensuring the continuation of the family business.

Since then, Mode Choc has continued to expand, conquering markets from Quebec City to Moncton, New Brunswick. In 2015, a new branch opened in Saint-Georges, and the online store was also launched that same year. At modechoc.ca , you can shop for all your favorite family and home items from the comfort of your own home. The company then made its grand entrance into the Montreal area in 2018 with the new store in Sainte-Thérèse.

In March of this year, a new chapter was also written in the history of Mode Choc with the opening of a new branch in Sainte-Foy. Christel Roussy and Jessika Roussy, who were already co-owners of several stores in the chain, are continuing their succession process of the family business by becoming owners of this eleventh branch.

Thus, the company, which started as a modest business with six employees in 1983, now has eleven stores and employs more than 600 people, spread across the provinces of Quebec and New Brunswick.
